Colonel Colonna d'Ornano - 15 franc

This military administration stamp honors the memory and sacrifice of Colonel Jean Colonna d'Ornano, a key Free French officer who was killed during the famous January 1941 raid on Murzuk. The red-inked design displays a portrait of the Colonel in full military dress alongside an engraving of the fortress at Murzuk ("Mourzouk"), which is superimposed onto a large, symbolic Cross of Lorraine—the emblem of the Free French forces. Framed under the text "Territoire Militaire du Fezzan" and the "RF" monogram
