This postage stamp was issued by the United Kingdom of Libya (المملكة الليبية المتحدة) in 1952 as part of the country's first definitive stamp series following independence in late 1951. Denominated at 5 Mils (5 Milliemes), it served for basic postal rates during the early reign of King Idris I. The design features the royal arms and cypher of King Idris I (إدريس الأول) encircled by stylized palm and olive branches, topped with the Royal Crown of Libya. The central emblem is framed within intricate traditional Arabesque corner flourishes, with the country name displayed in both English ("United Kingdom of Libya") and Arabic ("المملكة الليبية المتحدة"), flanked by the value in Arabic numerals and Latin script.
